If your contact is unable to give you a clear picture of how the business will function and seems vague about it, then it is most likely to be a scam. Also beware incase they promise you profits and perks which you find are way too good. Home based businesses like any other business requires a person to strive really hard in order to make profits and so getting them easy is a sign that something is fishy.
