Career job information for job seekers and find good employment job

Mike Richardson (8): for

We have many unskilled workers who can not find a job. However, we have parallel crisis in which the costs are too high. Supply and demand to use these problems. Liberals refuse to let these problems and resolve questions. They seek government intervention rather than using both the problems worse. Here are a contract government solutions that can solve many of the liberal crisis.

Crisis 1. Child care is too expensive for the poor. Mothers and the welfare of unemployed single mothers can not afford childcare. Solution 1: Each woman receives welfare or otherwise complain that they can get a job because child care is offered a choice: work in the real world for their own or working in the derivation of child. If there are skills, parenting skills, but can function as child care providers. Result 1: With the increasing availability of child care providers, the cost to everyone - especially the poor - will be reduced. Unemployed mothers are employed and the pressure on other human beings who can work in other areas. Tax revenues are also rising hundreds of thousands of people to join the workforce.

Crisis 2: We have many people homeless. Solution 2: The Fall of homeless people in several categories: the mentally ill (crazy), victims with mental disabilities (retardation), emotional disorders and antisocial (sociopath / criminal), society (addicted to drugs / alcohol) and used (lazy).

Part A: Part of the money to advocate for the homeless are going to open many of our blinds are psychiatric hospitals. Staff of all may come from the ranks of the unemployed surplus or normal.

Part B: Put some homeless shelters in the middle of the houses specifically for the mentally ill. With mental disabilities can be placed in supervised rehabilitation centers as is done with only the most serious today. To enter a school of the State of Texas now requires that three of the five severe physical disabilities, including paralysis, blindness, deafness, IQ below 60, and the need for a ventilator or feeding tube. Provide the mentally handicapped and physically disabled who can not live on their own would be a greater kindness to give them a bowl of soup at night and turning them loose on the street at 5 am.

Part C: The criminals who roam the streets should be in our prisons.

Part D and E: These two groups are easily interchangeable. Those who refuse to work and not using drugs regularly for short slide unable to work because they do not do drugs. Safety Light prisons for rehabilitation facilities and workshops to keep them useful to society would be the best option for these people. If you sleep on the streets, at risk of health and safety of all. If employees are supervised and controlled manner, they can not do drugs and can not commit the crimes necessary to abuse drugs and alcohol. Result 2: No homeless drug addicts, lunatics, alcoholics, or other "slow" people on the street. Problem 3: the lawlessness and high school. Solution 3: Train or produce. If you trade frequently or just can not stand the academic environment, what the Europeans do not - their child. You need an education to the age of 18, regardless of what education. Result 3: In a rigorous, controlled not give children the opportunity to sneak and have sex on the stairs, less teenage pregnancies. So there will be fewer teenage mothers.

Moving to a more hand on the environment will probably be more children in schools that do not do well in the regular classroom. The opening of the "Apprentice"-type schools separate from the purely academic schools to help other groups of unemployed and surplus. For those who are homeowners, plumbers, electricians, roofers and other building repair is too expensive, have you ever paid $ 40 an hour for a plumber? Have you ever paid $ 100 per person to spend ten minutes roach spray? Teaching young men and women of these skills reduce the cost of these essential services for all, and provides options for future employment. Unemployed artisans who have difficulty working in the Union system, teachers. Administrators who block the academic system can be moved to one work with students need. Everyone benefits. There are jobs that are now open to unskilled and unemployed. Care services in the current demand and can do most of the world. Any person who has paid a plumber $ 40 to five minutes to see a toilet or an electrician $ 400 to spend looking at your wiring to know that the supply of skilled workers can afford to increase. None of the building or the care and jobs move overseas, people and property and will remain here. And these jobs will always exist. It aims to promote human resources available to the gaps in our society to fill. There is no excuse for unemployment. Caring for people with poorly integrated create jobs for caregivers. Move people from welfare and work, more works to do in return. Teaching real world skills students are given jobs that can not be outsourced (someone in India can not fix the toilet) and help the economy as a whole. How criminals and drug addicts from the streets will generate jobs for its control, as it makes the streets safer for the rest of us. So we must ask ourselves what the jobs crisis? We have a solution within our means, if the government gets out of the way and go together on the problems of our community.

Entrepreneurship Article : The Top 5 Mistakes Made by First Time Entrepreneurs

Career job information for job seekers and find good employment job

by: Brian Armstrong

Most people go about starting their first business all wrong. They start with something far too difficult, which means it will never get started at all, or if they do it is likely to fail (meaning they will never start another).

Probably the most universal "first business idea" that people have, is for some type of retail shop. The family owned restaurant, sandwich franchise, and corner store are all popular ideas.

The second most popular "first business idea" is probably the high tech startup, which especially became popular after the dot com craze. The general idea being, (1) hire a bunch of smart people and put them in a nice office, and (2) change the world with a hot new technology.

Unfortunately, both of these are TERRIBLE first businesses. Here's why: they require large amounts of money to be invested, are high risk, and have a low probability of success. It's no wonder that most people are reluctant to quit their job and work for themselves if this is what they think starting a business is all about!

You've probably heard me say before that your business shouldn't be based on a brand new idea. Successful companies are those that take an existing business, and just improve it slightly. Your first business should also require very little investment (no office, employees, or outside funding) and you should concentrate on selling something as soon as possible.

Let's explore this concept in more detail, by looking at the top five mistakes first time entrepreneurs make:

Mistake #1: Raising Money

For your first business, think small. Your first business should be more of a side project that you are testing out, than a full commitment of all your resources. More importantly, your first business should be inexpensive. Don't invest money that will bankrupt you if you lose it, avoid venture capitalists, and don't take on any debt or sell ownership in your company to others.

These all increase your risk, distract you from your main purpose (which should be creating a valuable product and bringing in your first dollar), and means you have to start explaining your decisions to other people. Besides, you don't need to raise money if you aren't going to be...

Mistake #2: Spending Money

Here are a list of things you should not spend money on, under any circumstances, when starting your first business: an office or retail location, employees other than yourself, furniture, letterhead, logo design, legal services, and travel expenses (plane tickets and hotels). This is the classic mistake of a first time entrepreneur, who thinks that starting a company means spending money to APPEAR as if you are a company.

Starting a company is about creating a product or service that people will pay for and getting the word out. Your sole focus during the startup phase should be earning that first dollar. Save money by working out of your home and meeting potential clients at a restaurant or coffee shop. Use the computer and furniture you currently own. Hire college student to make the website, and write the legal documents yourself by modifying templates found on the internet.

Once your company is profitable, then, and only then, is it time to go back and start spending that money.

Mistake #3: Waiting

Another big mistake that first time entrepreneurs make is waiting too long to launch their product. Working in isolation, trying to make everything perfect before your big launch, will often result in disappointment. You see, nobody gets it right the first time.

I've never met an entrepreneur who launched a product or company that was perfect from day one. A much better alternative is to release early and often. In other words, once you get the very basics of your idea put together, show it to the public. Start getting feedback on it and find out what people think. Start to build buzz and stay in touch with your early customers. When you do finally launch, you'll have a much better product.

Mistake #4: Creating a Business Plan

I can hear every MBA in the room shouting blasphemy! But I for one do not believe in business plans. After studying finance, accounting, and management, and seeing dozens of business plans presented to venture capitalists, I've become convinced that they have very little value.

Even with the smartest people, best research, and all the time in the world, you cannot accurately predict the future. The truth is that you never know exactly what is going to happen when you launch the company, and trying to predict it is quite simply a waste of time.

That's not to say you should blindly enter a business venture with no thought to the profitability. I think you should work through how much you think you can sell, at what price, and what your expenses will be. See if it at least is in the right ballpark. But the kind of calculations I'm talking about can be done on the back of an envelope, not 50 pages of excel documents.

The fact of the matter is that business plans only exist to make investors feel good about giving away their money, and the research data inside them can be skewed. So leave business plans for the Fortune 500 companies and venture capitalists. Creating a business plan is a waste of time for your first business.

Mistake #5: Becoming a slave to your new business

Most people decide to start a company because they want the lifestyle. They want to set their own hours, make more money, and have total control over their life. But some entrepreneurs end up becoming slaves to their new business.

They trade working 8 hours per day at a big company for working 12 hours a day for themselves! People who start restaurants, franchises, and retail shops often fall into this trap because the store can't be open if they aren't there.

Avoid these for your first business, and seek one that fits your lifestyle goal. What would your business would look like if you had plenty of customers? How would your day be spent? Is there something only YOU personally can do? How would you feel about doing it eight hours per day?

Great first business ideas, are scalable and don't require the owner to invest more and more time.

Hopefully with these five common mistakes, you can start to reshape your idea of what a good first business is like. With a little bit of planning, you can avoid the common pitfalls of first time business owners, and recognize a great opportunity in front of you!

Career article : Warning: Be Careful Who You Hire

Career job information for job seekers and find good employment job

by: Judi Lynn Lake

In order to see things from different perspectives, I have been known to 'experiment' at times.

When I was 19, I wanted to see how handicapped people were really treated. I went to Manhattan with a girlfriend and 'posed' as a blind person for a day. It was an extremely enlightening experience. Only a 'non-New Yorker' will stereotype a typical New Yorker as being heartless for that day proved to me why I am proud to be a New Yorker. I had strangers help me on all counts with not one person taking advantage of me. By the end of the day, my belief in mankind was reignited.

In the '80s, I was an Art Director within the music industry but misplaced; my music of choice is either show-tunes or swing, however my placement was within the heavy metal division. To drown out the, pardon me, c#*p, I constantly was hooked into my Walkman (does anyone remember those? ... really???) playing MY music therefore unaffected by the glorious talent of such, well... The Sex Pistols for one.

Getting the 'experiment itch' once again, I wanted to know exactly how this music affected it's listeners so, for one week, I put away my Walkman and purposely listened to every heavy metal CD delivered to my office. Oh, there were doozies and I was yearning to belt out some Evita tunes, but, instead, decided to be patient with my little experiment.

By weeks end, I felt blue, negative, moody and was convinced that this music absolutely does affect our youth. Bang, bang, you're dead. Crazy? Look at our youth today. Believe me, after that week, my office belted out Frank, Judy, Sammy and of course, 'One Singular Sensation' so loud because ... that's who I am and artists take liberties in being who they are whenever they can ... ahum.

Well, age has not mellowed me and two weeks ago it was once again: 'experiment time'. This experiment involved me placing myself in my clients place. I am presently building a separate business, which basically needs a few things done before it can be officially launched. Taking myself out of the designer and ad agency role, I began to search for freelance web and graphic designers to finalize my project. I am pleased to say that I took my own advice: I did interview each person before I hired and was truly blown away. I must say that their websites were outstanding -- actually far superior to mine; but I have never really relied on my website to get clients in the first place.

My first encounter was with the graphic designer -- far more poised than I was my first observation. (Although I have already created my own branding for this business) I stated to her that I didn't have a clue about what to do first and really needed her help. Without asking me a thing about either my business or trying to get to know what kind of person I am, she confidentially told me that she would have roughs to me within one week. I departed a little nervous because she was extremely expensive and I didn't want the clock turned on for naught but I had to remind myself that this was just an 'experiment'.

My next order of business (I was told) was to contact the webmaster, who also was a bit pricey and he would start laying out the skeleton of my site. Now, I thought to myself, how on earth can he put up a website before I was branded? Since the webmaster and the graphic designer had no connection, I was clearly confused but.... Well, 'they knew best', I tried to tell myself as I was silently calculating prices in my head. His timeline for a rough was a little bit longer and he adamantly stated that he only communicates through e-mail. Well, that's a problem, because I do not prefer to communicate solely by e-mail, but, again, I was trying to be a 'good client'.

Now bear in mind, I had already branded myself and produced products over one year ago. The process took a great deal of research and planning as I seriously took into consideration the demographics this business would be reaching. Not one vendor, however, was interested in the details.

To quote Ricky Ricardo, 'The time had come". Sure enough I got to see all comps within the timeframe promised. Ok, I thought, maybe I was wrong because they are honoring deadlines here. I worked myself up to get extremely excited which my husband always tells me is my problem: if I would just learn to enter situations having no expectations I will not be disappointed, but do I learn? Never.

Poised, graphic designer: logo and branding comps lifeless, typeface boring and had I chosen any of her comps, my business would surely be forgotten within five minutes. No appeal and obviously, no research. This design team gave me what THEY WANTED not what was in the best interest of their client (me). When I tried to explain that none of the comps reflected anything of what I envisioned, there was no discussion of going back to the drawing board. Three comps were what were put in the contract and I had to choose either comp 1, 2 or 3. (Even if I hate them? And at THOSE PRICES???)

As a designer I can affirm that rough comps are just that: rough and are open for discussion and re-rendering and re-working if necessary. Type is chosen for personality, not from a standard list and color-- don't even get me started on color but at this juncture, I was simply the 'client' who clearly did not know best.

Webmaster was no better. His research provided me with a template design. How do I know that? Because this is my business but I was not at liberty to tell him through my experiment. The roughs he provided me were nothing that I could ever use and worse, he was fighting me that I didn't know what I was talking about. Obviously, there was no relationship thing growing here. On and on he went tooting his horn about his clients, his success and all the praise he has received over the years. (yawn) Hadn't anyone ever told him that work done 15 minutes ago is already history? The bigger question is what are you doing today?

Once he remarked on his strong marketing background, I could no longer contain myself. I then asked him why he never once had taken the time to discuss what type of business this is to be as well as who the audience is?

Long story short, they were fired, of course but I sympathized deeply with all the trusting people who rely on professionals to help their business. Vendors such as what I quickly described is what gives my business a bad name. These were not professionals, these were egomaniacs who nickel and dime clients because they know that they can get away with it. Let it be known, as well, that neither companies were paid a dime.

Word of caution: never trust a website to describe a firm's ability. Anyone can put up a quick storefront and portray their business as the 'best'. Ask for references and take your time before hiring anyone. Scrutinize any contracts and insist that you receive all original artwork that was produced for your project. If a designer/artist retains all rights, move on and find someone else.

Once a vendor is hired, insist on becoming part of the process. Expect to input your opinions and insist on learning. And, yes, if someone does not work well with you fire them immediately because they are not who will bring your dreams to the next level. Relationships are the key to all partnerships and if it ain't working from the start, it never will.

The best to each of you and may your journey be enlightening, encouraging and educational!

You Can Make Online Money

Career job information for job seekers and find good employment job

by: Mike Lohmeyer

Have you thought about making money from home? If your answer is "yes" you are not alone. There are thousands of get rich scams out there and if you have e-mail you have probably heard from these telling you how they rake in tons of cash while sitting on their yachts.Well, although becoming a millionare at home is highly unlikely, you really can make money from home if your willing to put in some time and effort. Dedicate some time to research before jumping right into something is the best piece of advice you could ever recieve.

First let's talk about the easiest way to make money on the internet. Affiliate marketing. The reason this is the easiest is you don't have to sell, produce, or distribute any product yoursef. These things are all handled by the owner of the product. All you do is find something you are interested in, find someone who offers affiliate programs in what your looking for, and post their ads or links(with your code, which they provide) on your website. If someone purchases the product through your link you get a piece of the commission. This costs you nothing.

Another great way to make money online is to try a technique called rebranding or reselling. What this involves is finding someone who sells resale right to their product. This means you can sell their product for whatever amount you choose and keep all of the profits. This technique is a little more advanced because everthing is up to you once you purchase these rights, but you get to put your name on it as if it your product. Most of the time when you purchase resale rights it also come with the tools to get you started such as a pre-made website, advertising tools, and some software to rebrand the product with your name.

If the route you want to go is selling tangible products, then you really should try some auction sites. If your thinking these are only for people selling their own personal junk you couldn't be more wrong. People have been known to sell and make thousands of dollars. The best way is to find wholesalers who sell in great amounts at great discounts, buy these products and resell them for a profit on these auction sites. If you do your homework you may find some wholesalers who will drop ship for you. This means you take the orders from the customers(at a higher cost of course) and then you place the orders for them with the wholesalers and they ship to the customers and you get to keep the difference.

This is just scratching the surface of how you can make some money online. As you can see it isn't about making millions overnight or going to work tomorrow and telling your boss you quit. It is however about finding the right information and the magic potion of time and effort. Remember "Nothing worth having ever comes easy".

Career Article : How to Find Work at Home Job Through Freelance Job Boards

Career job information for job seekers and find good employment job

by: Moni Arora

There are a lot of opportunities for work at home jobs but not all people know where to find them. If you have access to the Internet then you can easily search for your dream work at home carer job by looking at the various freelance job boards that are offering all sorts of work at home jobs.

The world has indeed become smaller due to the Internet. A freelance writer can easily get a job assignment from the United States, United Kingdom or even from Japan. He can travel the world in an hour just by surfing the various places in the world for his work assignment using the Internet.

Freelancers are no longer limited to finding work in their base locations because freelance work at home jobs are aplenty and they are posted in freelance job boards.

Looking at the jobs offers featured with the various freelance job boards can be daunting especially if you are a first timer. To do this, your have to use your search engine and type in the terms freelance work at home jobs or something like that. You will get several sites that offer freelance work at home ( employment ) job boards and you should choose the sites that are credible enough.

You will know when the site is credible because first of all, they do not ask you to pay them offhand even before you have found a freelance work at home job through their services. Most sites will offer free registration for freelance writers and you can register for as long as you have an email address where they can send the confirmation link.

Once you have registered successfully then you can start looking for the present freelance work at home opportunities and bid on them. But not all freelance work at home job boards requires bidding. Some job boards will ask you to send your resume and they will contact you if you made the grade.

There are a lot of advertised freelance work at home opportunities but the safest you can get if you do not have established contacts yet are the freelancer sites that only require a five to ten percent commission for every project you undertake. These sites also make sure that you get your payment through escrow, paypal or other payment modes.

However, if you consider freelance work at home jobs as a fulltime occupation and not just a sideline then you should not limit yourself to advertised job posts. You should also submit your proposal to the various sites that may be looking for freelance writers.

Concentrating on the advertised job posts will only limit your opportunities. If you want more work then you should look for work and not be content waiting for the job boards to post their vacancies.

The Internet is a world that is open to a lot of opportunities especially for people who want to work at home. However, the Internet is open to all people who have access to the Internet so you should also be careful in dealing with possible employers who may dupe you into doing something for them without paying you in the end.

The fast rule is to always question job boards that require you to pay offhand before delivering the goods. Most legitimate freelance job boards do not require you to send money but they instead deduct their commissions once you have already taken on a freelance job.

Article Motivation:How To Talk To Random Strangers In 3 Simple Steps

Saturday, 4 December 2010

Career job information for job seekers and find good employment job

Want to know how to talk to random strangers? Then this article is for you. I'll share with you 3 simple steps to easily start a conversation with someone you've never met before.

Barring liquid courage (which gets you into trouble more often than not), find out what other options you have so can learn to talk to random strangers right now.

Step 1: Excel In The Art Of Conversation.

The first thing you need to do is work on your conversation skills. Can you hold up a decent dialogue with your friends and family? If you can't even do that, then you need a little more practice before you even try initiating a conversation with a complete stranger.

Be comfortable voicing out your thoughts and expressing yourself. Learn to relax as well, so you won't accidentally blurt out something inappropriate in panic.

Once you've gotten used to talking to the people you already know, that's when you go out and explore the various ways to talk to random strangers.

Step 2: Start Small.

If your target is that beautiful regular over at your local bar, I suggest you practice with the small fry first. Try making small talk with sales attendants as you shop. If it's a slow day at your favorite coffee shop, maybe you can initiate small talk with the barista.

If you don't feel ready to initiate whole conversations, you can also try simply smiling and greeting the people whom you see everyday.

The building personnel, your landlord, the local librarian and other people you meet make for good training. They'll help you build your confidence, as well as train you into making it a habit.

Step 3: Be Open And Friendly.

Learning how to talk to random strangers is not always easy, considering how suspicious people can be. That's something you can't control. What you can control though, is the way you approach them.

Be respectful of personal space and don't try to engage strangers in a serious conversation. Keep things light and friendly.

If you're a beginner, I suggest that you limit the conversation to only a few minutes. If the person does not show signs of wanting to talk any longer, then end the conversation on a light note and go off to do your own thing.

Learning how to talk to random strangers is very admirable. And though the path to success is not always easy, keep in mind that worthy goals are hardly ever without some sort of challenge.

The internet has proven to be the best way for millions of consumers to buy car insurance, resulting in a better policy and a cheaper rate.

If you haven't taken a look at your insurance policy in a year or so, then now is the time. You can buy cheap auto insurance online that will make you realize how much money you are actually throwing away right now. Most people who shop online find that they pay up to twenty percent less once they sign up for a policy online – and that is a lot of money in most households.

When you are buying cheap auto insurance online, you are not buying some sort of inferior product. In fact, it is quite the opposite. When you buy online and deal with companies who are "internet friendly", you will have more interaction with them and usually be able to change your policy at any time. This is ideal for people who want to make sure that they are paying the lowest possible price at all times.

Perhaps the best feature of shopping for and buying your car insurance online is that you can compare policies and companies much easier. With the simple click of a button, you can have policies and their prices right in front of you. This makes it easy to choose among them, compare the coverage levels they are offering, and choose the company with the best reputation and the lowest price. Most people find that once they buy their first insurance policy online, they never have to talk to an insurance agent again!

Article: Comparing the Benefits of Caravan Insurance

Career job information for job seekers and find good employment job

There are many things you have to keep in mind when looking for caravan insurance. One of these will of course be the cost of the cover, but another is what you actually get for the premiums you pay. If you do not take out enough insurance and your caravan is stolen or destroyed you would lose everything. On the other hand over insure and you are paying out for insurance that is surplus.
Here are some of the many things you should make sure are included in the cost of your insurance.
  • New for old cover - new for old protection should cover all of the furnishings, fittings and contents of your static or touring caravan. If these are destroyed or stolen you then get replacements at the cost of items today. New for old should also relate to the caravan itself. When considering this you have to have your caravan and contents valued and this is the agreed sum of money that you insure for.
  • Liability insurance is needed in the event that you damage to a third parties property or injure a third party. This could include damage caused when towing your caravan or if you rent your caravan to others and someone gets hurt while staying in it. In either of these cases you could be taken to court and you would have to pay out considerable costs. Liability insurance would pay towards the court costs.
  • If looking for European insurance for a touring caravan bear in mind that some providers may offer more for your money than others. All insurance providers will offer you up to so many days coverage so if you plan to spend a lot of time in Europe, the more days you get for your money the better.

Things to consider when looking for insurance for your caravan
Once you have compared the cost of insurance for your caravan and what you get for your money you then have to turn your attention to the small print of the insurance policy. While it can be boring to read it is essential that you pay attention to the small print as this is where you can find what is excluded, the limitations and what the provider expects from you as the policy holder.
The small print in your caravan insurance policy is also where you can find how much excess you have to pay towards a claim. Every provider will state a minimum amount that you need to put towards a claim but you could offer to pay more. The excess sum of money has to be paid before the insurance provider will pay out on your claim so bear this in mind when deciding to pay more. While offering to pay more in excess may help to reduce your insurance premiums by a little each month, you have to ask yourself where you would get the money from in a lump sum, to pay in the event of a claim being made.

Article insurance: Medicare Advantage Plan - An Alternative to Traditional Medicare

Career job information for job seekers and find good employment job

Since 1965, when Medicare was signed into law, the program has undergone some significant changes and welcomed some additions in the quest to improve the quality of care that people receive under the program. One of the most popular recent additions to the program has been the Medicare Advantage Plan.
Part of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, the Medicare Advantage Plan allows Medicare beneficiaries to receive their benefits through private health insurance plans, as opposed to the original Medicare Plans (Parts A & B). This particular plan allows beneficiaries the option of receiving insurance through the private plan of their choice. While these plans are often limited to a specific network of doctors, most companies allow you to pay an additional fee to see a doctor outside of the specified network. This allows beneficiaries to receive the care they want from the doctors they want and still receive their Medicare benefits, albeit in a different way.
The Medicare Advantage Plan also allows for a little more flexibility than traditional Medicare does. This plan includes prescription drug coverage, and beneficiaries can choose Advantage plans that include dental and vision care as well as health club or gym memberships. The plan places a heavy emphasis on preventive care. These advantages come with the condition that you must stay in-network for your care, but many beneficiaries find this trade-off more than reasonable. Overall, those who decide to participate in Medicare Advantage generally do so because they see the Advantage Plan as a better value than traditional Medicare.
But the Medicare Advantage Plan is not perfect. Many people who were originally enrolled in Medicare Advantage have since switched back to traditional Medicare. The most common complaint of former Advantage Plan holders was that the quality of Medicare was less than satisfactory. If you think that Medicare Advantage sounds like the right plan for you, be sure to talk it over with your healthcare provider and, if you can, an insurance professional to make sure that you understand the differences between traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage and the effects that each plan will have on your healthcare.

Article Insurance : Small Business Health Insurance: An Employer's Guide

Career job information for job seekers and find good employment job

"Saving on your small business health insurance can be a challenge. But there are ways to overcome the financial obstacles and get the coverage necessary for your business. There are two major benefits of employer-based coverage. First these plans, although expensive, usually carry the best all around protection for you and your employees. Second, providing benefits plays a key role in attracting and retaining quality employees."

Why is coverage for small businesses so much more than for large corporations?

Health insurance for small businesses cost so much because of the high quality coverage concentrated among a small group of people. Every individual within the group represents a different level of financial risk to an insurance company, and this risk is added up and spread out among the group. Large corporations pay considerably less because the risk is spread to such a large group, where small business owners can see unreasonably high increases in premiums due to one or two members. Small businesses also have to insure their employees under state mandates, which can require the policies to cover some specific health conditions and treatments. Large corporations' policies are under federal law, usually self-insured, and with fewer mandated benefits. The Erisa Act of 1974 officially exempted self-funded insurance policies from state mandates, lessening the financial burdens of larger firms.

Isn't the Health Care Reform Bill going to fix this?

This remains to be seen. There will be benefits for small business owners in the form of insurance exchanges, pools, tax credits, subsidies etc. But you can't rely on a bill that is still in the works, and you can't wait for a bill where the policies set forth won't take effect until about 2013. Additionally, the bill will help you with costs, but still won't prevent those costs from continually rising. You, as a business owner, will need to be fully aware of what you can do to maintain your bottom line.
What can I do?
First you need to understand the plan options out there. So here they are.

PPO
A preferred provider option (PPO) is a plan where your insurance provider uses a network of doctors and specialists. Whoever provides your care will file the claim with your insurance provider, and you pay the co-pay.

Who am I allowed to visit?

Your provider will cover any visit to a doctor or specialist within their network. Any care you seek outside the network will not be covered. Unlike an HMO, you don't have to get your chosen doctor registered or approved by your PPO provider. To find out which doctors are in your network, simply ask your doctor's office or visit your insurance company's website.

Where Can I Get it?

Most providers offer it as an option in your plan. Your employees will have the option to get it when they sign their employment paperwork. They generally decide on their elections during the open enrollment period, because altering the plan after this time period won't be easy.

And Finally, What Does It Cover?

Any basic office visit, within the network that is, will be covered under the PPO insurance. There will be the standard co-pay, and dependent upon your particular plan, other types of care may be covered. The reimbursement for emergency room visits generally range from sixty to seventy percent of the total costs. And if it is necessary for you to be hospitalized, there could be a change in the reimbursement. Visits to specialists will be covered, but you will need a referral from your doctor, and the specialist must be within the network.

A PPO is an expensive, yet flexible option for your small business health insurance. It provides great coverage though, and you should inquire with your provider to find out how you can reduce the costs.

HMO (Health Maintenance Organization)

Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) are the most popular small business health insurance plans. Under an HMO plan you will have to register your primary care physician, as well as any referred specialists and physicians. Plan participants are free to choose specialists and medical groups as long as they are covered under the plan. And because HMOs are geographically driven, the options may be limited outside of a specific area.

Health maintenance organizations help to contain employer's costs by using a wide variety of prevention methods like wellness programs, nurse hotlines, physicals, and baby-care to name a few. Placing a heavy emphasis on prevention cuts costs by stopping unnecessary visits and medical procedures.

When someone does fall ill, however, the insurance provider manages care by working with health care providers to figure out what procedures are necessary. Usually a patient will be required to have pre-certification for surgical procedures that aren't considered essential, or that may be harmful.

HMOs are less expensive than PPOs, and this preventative approach to health care theoretically does keep costs down. The downside, however, is that employees may not pursue help when it is needed for fear of denial. That aside, it is a popular and affordable plan for your small business health insurance.
