Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
- 1Prepare for your employment background check by calling any previous employers that you have listed on your resume. It is a good idea to check in with your previous employers to let them know that you are applying for a new job and that they might be getting a call from your new employer. This way, they will be more prepared to say a few nice words about you when your new employer does call. It will also give you a chance to straighten out any problems or misunderstandings that you might have had with your former employer.
- 2Stop doing drugs. Occasionally an employment background check will involve a drug test. Because drugs can stay in your system for some time it is important that you refrain from consuming any illegal drugs for at least a couple of months before your employment background check.
- 3Do a thorough internet search for information about yourself. Your new employer will almost certainly Google your name as part of their employment background check; however, they will probably also check social networking sites like Myspace and Facebook. Check all of these sites and remove any incriminating information that you find. If there is a piece of information that you can't remove from the internet, you should assume that your new employer will find it--Have a story ready for when he asks you to explain it.
